Winthrop 888 Spring from Covington is a printed multipurpose 100% cotton fabric. The inspiration for this fabric comes from the archives at Covington of an embroidered fabric, but by printing the fabric instead of embroidering, it becomes a real value for such a high end look. Many people will look at this and think it is actually embroidered. That is how superb the development of the printed design was done. The detail in the shapes and the intensity of the color certainly adds to this "faux embroidery" look. The design itself is a large framed design with peacocks bordering the frame. Colors contained are Passion Red, Fern, Spa Blue Green, Leaf, Rose, and accents of Stone Grey. The background color is a very Light Cream color. The repeat measures 33.25 inches vertical by 26.75 inches horizontal. Winthrop can be used not only for drapery, curtain and upholstery fabric, but also for top of the bed applications, and as headboard fabric.

Railroaded fabrics are simply fabrics that have designs turned "sideways" on the roll. The process was developed to aid furniture manufacturers wishing to cut and sew covers on furniture without seams. Since most fabrics woven are approximately 54" wide, any furniture piece wider than 54" would require seaming two pieces of fabric together. Railroading solves this dilemma, now a cushion piece can be covered without seams no matter what the width. Railroaded fabric is very desirable by designers since they can be more creative. When using a railroaded product for drapery, be aware of the panel size in relation to the design.
